Entryway Table Decor Ideas: How I Styled a Small Yet Functional Entryway

Our entryway was completely blank after our renovation, and somehow it’s become one of my favorite little spots to decorate.

I wanted this space to feel like a welcoming moment when you walk in the door, but also be functional for everyday life. It’s the first thing we (and our guests) see, so it felt like the perfect place to add a little personality and bold touches of color.

If you’re looking for entryway table decor ideas, here’s how I styled ours.

A Small Entryway That Needed to Work Hard

Our entryway isn’t huge, so I knew I needed something simple.

I went with a thin entryway table that wouldn’t overwhelm the area, and found the perfect one in a deep blue tone with fluted drawers.

The rest of our home leans pretty neutral (off-white, warm wood, and sage green), so this felt like a fun opportunity to mix in something a little different and bold without it feeling out of place.

The Decor Pieces That Pulled It Together

Once the table was in place, decorating it was the fun part.

I used a mix of pieces from places like HomeGoods, but you can easily recreate this look with similar finds from Amazon, Wayfair, or Target.

The Entryway Rug That Pulled Everything Together

One of the pieces that really completed this space was the runner rug.

Entryways are one of the highest-traffic areas in your home, so I wanted something that looked good and could hold up to everyday life. I went with a washable runner, which has been such a game changer, especially with kids, a dog and constant foot traffic.

I also love how it ties in with many of the colors in the table’s decor along with our mud room area ahead. Between the console table, decor, and rug, the whole entryway now feels intentional and like its own little fun corner of our home.

Next up: I plan to add two ottomans under the table to finalize the entryway. Stay tuned!

My Entryway Table Styling Formula

If you’re styling your own entryway and don’t know where to start, this is the formula I’d follow:

Start with a functional base

Choose a console table that fits your space (especially important in smaller entryways).

Add height

A lamp or tall decor piece helps anchor the space and makes it feel finished.

Layer in something personal

Photos, books, or meaningful decor make it feel like your home.

Include something practical

A catch-all bowl or tray is key for wallets, keys, etc.

Finish with texture or greenery

Florals or greenery bring the whole look to life.
